New Illness: Vaccine Reluctance

Common sense should be named as un-common sense, because it not common among people at all. With the virus ravaging the planet, and killing in millions, and permanently altering the global landscape, people are still afraid to take the shot. New vaccines were developed in record time, the previous record was 5 years for Ebola vaccine, but this vaccine with the new delivery platform of mRNA technology was almost ready in less than 6–8 months inclusive of clinical trials. Mass production of the vaccine is a sticky issue always, but this vaccine was scaled up to millions in quick time, and we had multiple drug companies producing multiple vaccines with many using different techniques and efficacy rates.

It is the virus that is not scary, but its response is predictable, but it is the human stupidity that is unpredictable.

Common Reasons among vaccine haters:

Vaccine has side effects:

All those people saying this pop up pills and consume food from road side stalls. All those lack clear documentation, and has 100% disease strike rate. But these citizens refuse to take the jab citing side effects which is a known rare occurrence among all the medicines. All the medicines that is produced is not customized, they are made to work on most of the patients. Since these side effects of blood clot is exaggerated by news channels, reluctance is high on the minds of people

Loss of virility:

Adults have never taken a vaccine in living memory. We have all been given polio, Hepatitis vaccines when we were kids. It was never voluntary, but this is the first time in living memory that we have had to take a shot. And this vaccine shot comes amidst high social media of 1000 WhatsApp groups and a million Facebook posts, not counting the dozens of YouTube interviews. It has been circulated in some WhatsApp groups that loss of virility is a side effect on these vaccines, and hence many people believing such a hoax, never volunteer for the same. I have personally published the drug clinical trials of most of the major vaccines, kindly request vaccine naysayers to read the same. All vaccines do not have the above mentioned side effects. They are perfectly safe and have been taken by millions across the world.

Virus is afraid of me:

Many healthy and healthy boasting individuals declare that the virus is a weak one, and would not attack their immune system. They cite many previous instances of me conquering other diseases. Many healthy individuals have lost their lives. This virus does not have any antidote now, the only defense mechanism that we have is the vaccine and sanitary measures. Virus does not differentiate between healthy and unhealthy, and in high dosages, the virus does kill runners, perfectly healthy people as well.

Virus is a hoax:

One of the many issues facing health inspectors is that this virus does not produce any visible after effects. Yes people lose their lives, but we do not get any blisters like pox, or deformity in legs, bleeding. Hard to believe, but many people still trust that this virus is a hoax since they cannot see them. They show videos of Chinese people enjoying their life outside without masks, telling if the virus originated from china, how come their people not affected. Valid question, even I do not have the answer for the same.

Fear of injections:

Many adults, perfectly logical thinkers, are afraid of injections, and they are ready to face the wrath, rather than taking the jab. There is no logical reason for this fear, it is just the fear itself. It is mentally tough to convince such people to take the shot. They live in the fear of eternal worry and hope that the virus gets destroyed on its own.

Death of vaccinated people due to the virus:

There were many famous personalities who succumbed to the virus after taking the shot. Also some persons also died of complications even after double dosage. It is tough to argue that in a parallel universe that without the vaccination, they would have not had a chance, and also millions who got saved and living now are able to breath thanks to the vaccine. But these rumors never die down, and are frequently scaled up in family groups.

No Effect Vaccines:

If the group that says, vaccine has no side effects, alarming is the group which states that vaccine has no effects. Theories of vaccine is a placebo, and videos of empty injections and just a finger grip in place of a vaccine for photo shoot are all viral and add to the validity. Recent mixing of two types of vaccine for people added fuel to fire. We do not stop riding our vehicles because there are road accident, we ride it with a helmet. We should approach vaccine with caution but not with undue fear.

Let us hope, our vaccination rates increase in order to break the strangle hold of the virus, and create the much needed herd immunity for the welfare of all remaining mankind.
